Axtell HS baseball coach killed in single-vehicle wreck

AXTELL, TX — An Axtell High School baseball coach died in a single-vehicle accident while visiting friends.

Axtell ISD Superintendent Dr. JR Proctor announced the passing of Cameron Bankston in a Facebook post on Friday.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce the passing of our beloved coach Cameron Bankston. Last night Coach Bankston passed away in a single vehicle accident in Huckabay, Texas, while visiting friends,” Superintendent Proctor said.
“Coach Bankston came to Axtell just a single year ago, and had already made an unmistakable impact on our school. Please keep his family and loved ones in your prayers.”

Axtell ISD says they know this is a very difficult time for everyone involved, and if you or your child are in distress, please do not hesitate to contact High School Counselor Ashley Hardin through email at ahardin@axtellisd.net, and she will arrange for a virtual counseling session.

Axtell BSA also posted in honor of the coach saying:

“The lights are on at the ball fields in honor of coach Cameron Bankston…not only did he touch the lives of the ones he coached, but also the youth of this community! May his light continue to shine in the lives of those he cared for most.. the kids! Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the family of our beloved Coach Bankston!”

Police identify victim of single-vehicle rollover into Scarborough Marsh

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The Scarborough Police Dept. says one person is dead following a single-vehicle car crash on Pine Point Rd. in the area of the Scarborough Marsh. 

Police identify the man killed in the crash as 19-year-old Christopher Thompson of Old Orchard Beach.

Police say Thompson’s vehicle rolled over into the marsh and he was found dead inside the car. 

The Scarborough Police and Fire Depts. responded to the scene around 10 a.m. Monday. Pine Point Rd. was shut down for several hours as they responded to the incident.

The crash is being investigated by the Scarborough Police Department with accident reconstruction being handled by the Saco Police Department.

Man killed in single-vehicle crash near McCreary, Manitoba, RCMP say – Winnipeg


A man is dead following a single-vehicle crash near McCreary, Man., Sunday.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on Road 86W, roughly 10 km southeast of McCreary, around 8:35 a.m.

Police say a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old man from the RM of Mcreary was heading north when it lost control, hit the ditch and rolled.

The driver was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Police investigating after 61-year-old woman dies in single-vehicle crash

WACO, TX — The Waco Police Department said that a 61-year-old woman is dead after a crash in Waco.

The driver of the vehicle, 65, is being detained. Police are investigating to see if he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

They said the crash was a single vehicle crash near Harlem and Dallas.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
