Fight over bicycle led to Sunday stabbing in Fargo

FARGO — A Fargo man accused of stabbing another person in the neck in a dispute over a bicycle told police he acted in self-defense, according to documents filed this week in district court.

Abdisamad Said Muse, 45, appeared Thursday, July 1, in Cass County District Court on a Class C felony charge of aggravated assault. He remains in custody at the Cass County Jail.

The charge stems from a Sunday morning stabbing reported in the 800 block of 10th Street South in Fargo, near St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Police found Abdiaziz Ahmed at the church with a wound to his neck, according to court documents.

He was taken to Sanford Medical Center to be treated and was expected to recover, police said.

Court documents alleged the stabbing happened at Muse’s apartment at 809 10th St. S. Ahmed claimed he woke up at the apartment and Muse stabbed him over a dispute involving a bicycle, according to a police report.

Ahmed said he owned the bike, but Muse said it belonged to another person, court documents said. Muse also said he tried to kick Ahmed out of the apartment several times, claiming Ahmed was “hard to get rid of,” the report said.

Muse told police he swiped at Ahmed’s throat with a box cutter in self-defense over the bike, according to court documents.
