BISMARCK, N.D. – Update: According to highway patrol, a 49-year-old Bismarck man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado the wrong way when it was hit head on by a Ford F-150 transporting a man, woman and 3 children from Mclaughlin, SD.

The Ford spun and hit the back end of a semi before it rolled and came to an upright position in the median.

The occupants of the Ford were transported to St Alexius in Bismarck. The driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead on scene.

North Dakota Highway Patrol officers say one person is dead and five are hurt after a three vehicle crash east of Bismarck.

It happened just after 6:30 Wednesday evening.

The crash shut down eastbound traffic for about two-and-a-half hours.
