Probe after P’burg traffic stop finds vehicle stolen and heroin, meth are recovered, prosecutor says

Phillipsburg police are searching for a 35-year-old town man who was driving a stolen car on Aug. 17 that held more than a half-ounce of heroin and more than an ounce of methamphetamine, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office reports.

Jonathon Hornbaker, of the first block of Bullman Street, was pulled over Aug. 17 on a traffic violation, Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer said in a news release. Further investigation revealed the status of the vehicle and the drugs, Pfeiffer said.

Two sets of charges were filed against Hornbaker, who is not in custody, Pfeiffer said.

On Aug. 17, Hornbaker was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, Pfeiffer said.

On Friday, Hornbaker was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, one charge each for the heroin and the meth, Pfeiffer said.

Police also recovered 21 suspected ecstasy pills, a quarter pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $1,520 in cash, Pfeiffer said.

A warrant was issued for Hornbaker’s arrest, Pfeiffer said.

It was not clear if Hornbaker has an attorney. A phone number tied to his current address wasn’t immediately available.

Girard transportation company forced to stop all rides after parts stolen from entire fleet

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A company that provides transportation to people with special needs had to halt operations Monday morning after their fleet was targeted by destructive thieves.

The catalytic converters were stolen from an entire fleet of PCS (Person Centered Services) Transportation/Active Day’s vehicles at some point over the weekend, according to Trumbull Director Sherry Christner.

The company is located in the 500 block of Rush Blvd., which is where the large vans and buses were parked.

Christner noticed the problem around 6 a.m. Monday when she went out to start one of the vehicles.

On the lot, there were cables dangling from underneath the buses PCS provides and coordinates rides for people with disabilities and serve about 100 people per day at the Girard locations.

She told police this is not the first time catalytic converters have been stolen from them.

“This is the second time that this has happened to us. First time was back in Thanksgiving time when we were off for break. We came back and they had hit us,” Christner said.

The company is working to set up a transportation solution moving forward for the rest of the week.

PCS/Active Day provides and coordinates integrated vocational, recreational, leisure, social, volunteer and educational activities for individuals with disabilities to enhance career opportunities.

140 THC Cartridges Nabbed In South Windsor Vehicle Stop: Warrant

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A trail that began with a Manchester road rage incident and ended with a traffic stop in South Windsor has left a Tolland man with drug-related charges, authorities said.

South Windsor police on Monday arrested Vincent Bovino, 19, of Tolland, on an active warrant after he was picked up by Hartford police on motor vehicle-related charges, according to a report. Bovino was charged in South Windsor for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug Factor and possession of greater than a half-ounce of cannabis.

According to a report, Bovino’s charges stem from a November 2019 road rage incident in Manchester.

A suspect in the case, Bovino was located in South Windsor, and a subsequent search of his vehicle yielded 14 grams of marijuana, 140 individual THC cartridges, and an aerosol can of butane, which police said is commonly used to extract THC oil from marijuana plant material, a report says.

Bovino posted a $100,000 surety bond and was to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday.
