Apple Car – 9to5Mac

Rumors of Apple’s electric car initiative began back in early 2015 when a report claimed Apple had been considering the effort for quite some time. Steve Jobs himself admitted to considering building a car in 2008, but put the plans on hold to focus on development of the iPhone.

Over the past year and a half, however, it’s become more clear that Apple is indeed working on a car of some sorts under the “Project Titan” moniker. Tesla CEO Elon Musk even stated that it’s an “open secret” Apple is building an electric car. At one point it was rumored that Apple was interested in purchasing Tesla, but that report was never confirmed.

Musk’s comments came following an intense poaching war between Apple and Tesla, with both companies poaching employees from the other. Musk, however, referred to Apple as the “Tesla graveyard.” 

In addition to hiring employees from Tesla, Apple has also hired employees and executives from Fiat, Mercedes, Ford, and more. The head of Mercedes-Benz, however, doesn’t seem too worried about Apple’s car plans, likening the idea to a car manufacturer building a smartphone.

We detailed the start of Apple’s Project Titan team at the link below. The team is now said to consist of around 600 people.

Apple is believed to be operating Project Titan under a shell company called SixtyEight Research in Sunnyvale California. Apple has purchased a variety of real estate property in the area, much of which fits the bill for building a car.

Apple was initially reportedly aiming to release its own electric car by 2020, but a more recent report claims that the launch date has been pushed into 2021. The date could potentially have been affected by the departure of Steve Zadesky who was leading the project.

Not much is known about the design of the Apple Car, though a variety of renders have emerged, all of which are purely imaginative and based on nothing but speculation. The car is said to be electric, though its autonomous capabilities are unclear at this point.

As we inch closer to the reported 2021 release, we should expect for more details concerning the Apple Car to emerge.

Vehicle Borne IEDs (VBIEDs)



Vehicle borne IEDs (VBIEDs) are devices that use a vehicle as the package or container of the device.
These IEDs come in all shapes, colors, and sizes which vary by the type of vehicles available – small sedans to large cargo trucks. There have even been instances of what appeared to be generators, donkey drawn carts, and ambulances used to attempt attacks on Coalition Forces and the New Iraqi Government.

Larger vehicles enable larger amounts of explosive that can be used, resulting in a greater effect. Functioning of devices can vary within the same methods as the package types and can have the same common characteristics or indicators as other IEDs.

VBIEDs have increasingly used larger amounts of explosives, and the explosive charge has ranged anywhere from 100lbs to well over 1000 pounds. The explosive charge has included items such as mortar rounds, rocket motors, rocket warheads, PE4 explosives, and artillery rounds.

Functioning of devices can vary within the same methods as the package types and can have the same common characteristics or indicators as other IEDs

A growing technique in VBIED attacks in Iraq has involved the use of multiple vehicles. In such instances, the lead vehicle is used as a decoy or barrier buster. Once stopped or neutralized and with coalition forces starting to move to inspect or detain – the main VBIED comes crashing though and into the crowd before detonating; thus resulting in an increase of the casualty ratio.

Bike Shops Are Open in Colorado Despite COVID-19

Colorado has not shut down bike shops over COVID-19.

Listed as a critical business in Colorado, they’re still open for repairs and shopping, which is good news for any cyclists trying to get around town for the essentials: jobs, groceries, hospital visits…and fresh air.

But even though they haven’t been required to close, most of the shops are cutting back hours, limiting the number of customers inside to enforce social-distancing protocols, or offering curbside services only.

If you want to browse for a new bike or gab with the bike mechanic about your fixed-gear collection, wait till the shutdown is over. In the meantime, if you need parts or an urgent repair, the shops are ready to help. But no matter what shop you go to, call ahead. Things are changing quickly.

Cycleton in Stapleton, which plans to stay open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, has cut back on the number of bike-repair projects it is taking on. Doors are kept locked, and customers are being limited to two groups at a time.

“If you have a service issue, we ask that you give us a call first so that we can let you know when we would be able to facilitate your needs,” the shop requests on social media. “We are working with a very small crew right now, so there may be delays. Sales are more than welcome, however, it will help us immensely if you have a good idea what you’re looking for before you come in. This will help us to take care of your needs quickly and efficiently and be able to service other customers in a timely manner. We will do our best to keep our customer’s bicycle needs met and appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Let’s get through this together, Denver!”

SloHi, which offers bike sales, repairs and coffee, continues to operate on an appointment-only basis; only two customers at a time are allowed at both the Highland and City Park locations.

The nonprofit bike shop Bikes Together has closed its Park Hill shop but kept its spot at 1060 Osage Street open; it has suspended volunteering at both locations. The shops are asking for financial donations through Colorado Gives.

Velosoul Cyclery is open for business but limiting the shop to one customer at a time; in addition, the store is posting dad jokes and photos of bug-out bikes — bicycles for surviving the Apocalypse — online, to try to keep the mood light.

Turin has limited its offerings to by-appointment curbside service. “Stay safe, wash your hands, and call us before you stop by,” the shop posted online.

Turin also offers the following smart advice: “Like everyone, we can’t wait to get back to normal, but until then be safe out there y’all! If you’re gonna ride stick to small groups, stay in your local community, and please do not do anything that could put you in danger of needing emergency services.”

Vehicle insurance – Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vehicle insurance (also called auto insurance or car insurance) is a kind of insurance that protects people if they have a car accident. Somebody with vehicle insurance would not have to pay the entire cost of damage a car accident causes. In many places, it is against the law to drive without vehicle insurance.

The bare minimum everyday driver should require to purchase a liability coverage. It varies from state to state and it is important to have the minimum amount as required by law. You can receive a ticket, have your driver license revoked, or even be arrested.

Liability is there to protect the other drivers on the road from the damages you cause.

Insurance prices vary a lot by the company. The car you drive can affect your auto insurance rates. If you get in a accident the repairs on the car may be different from others.

Somebody with vehicle insurance would pay what is called a premium (perhaps every month). The insurance company would decide how big the premium is, and might consider several factors. These include some of the following:

  • Age
  • Type of car
  • Type of job
  • Gender
  • Home
  • History of insurance
  • Past accidents

When you pay a premium, the insurance company agrees to pay your losses as outlined in your policy. Depending on different factors, the insurance company may not pay all or any of your losses.

Transportation Networks is a networks repository for transportation research.

If you are developing algorithms in this field, you probably asked yourself
more than once: where can I get good data? The purpose of this site is to
provide an answer for this question! This site currently contains several examples
for the traffic assignment problem. Suggestions and additional data are always welcome.

Many of these networks are for studying the Traffic Assignment Problem, which is one of the most
basic problems in transportation research. Theoretical background can be found in
“The Traffic Assignment Problem – Models and Methods” by Michael Patriksson, VSP 1994,
as well as in many other references.

This repository is an update to Dr. Hillel Bar-Gera’s TNTP.
As of May 1, 2016, data updates will be made only here, and not in the original website.

Each individual network and related files is stored in a separate folder. There
are a number of ways to download the networks and related files:

  • Click on a file, click view as Raw, and then save the file
  • Clone the repository to your computer using the repository’s clone URL. This is done with a Git
    tool such as TortoiseGit. Cloning will download the
    entire repository to your computer.

There are two ways to add a network:

  • Fork the repo
    • Create a GitHub account if needed
    • Fork (copy) the repo to your account
    • Make changes such as adding a new folder and committing your data
    • Issue a pull request for us to review the changes and to merge your changes into the master
  • Create an issue, which will notify us. We will then reply to coordinate adding your network to the site.

Make sure to create a README in Markdown for your
addition as well. Take a look at some of the existing README files in the existing network folders to see what
is expected.
