Ways to Survive the Car Dealership

Getting a new car is an exciting thing but the actual process of buying your new car can be overwhelming and time-consuming. However, there are some simple things that you can do to help the car buying process go more smoothly. With these easy and simple steps, you will be able to survive the task of buying your new car with ease.

Know Your Credit Score

Knowing your credit score and exactly what’s on your credit report is one of the most important things you can do before you ever step foot on the dealership. You don’t want any surprises and you definitely don’t want to be denied for financing after you have spent all day at the dealership looking at cars. You can run your own credit through any major credit bureau and you will have your score and report within minutes.

Have a Budget

You have to be prepared and know how much money you can afford to spend on a new car before you go to the dealership. If you don’t then you are more than likely going to be persuaded easily by the salesman to purchase a vehicle that you can’t afford. It will only take you an hour, maybe two, to sit down and determine how much money you can afford to pay for a car note every month. Of course, your credit score and down payment amount will affect the final monthly dollar amount but you need to know where you stand financially before you start shopping.

Research Vehicles on the Internet

Take a few days and research the cars that you like on the internet before you go shopping. This will allow you to be familiar with the cars that you like and you will be able to tell your salesman the vehicle you are looking for and the options that you want in the vehicle. The internet will also give a price range of the vehicles that you are looking to buy and this will help you negotiate with the dealership on price.

Go to the Dealership on the Right Day

It’s always better to buy a new car towards the end of the month because the dealership will normally give you a better price in order to make the sale because they are trying to hit their quota for the month. If the timing works for you it would be even better if you could purchase your vehicle on the last day of the last month of the year! Saturdays are probably the worst day to go to the dealerships because everyone else that wants to buy a new car will be there on that day too and you can expect to have longer wait times for everything on Saturdays.

Know the Value of Your Trade-In

Trade-ins are where dealerships have the opportunity to make money and they know it so knows the value of your trade-in before you walk through the dealership doors. You …
